The Future of Cyber Resilience in the Energy Sector: Seeton Joins EBA Expert Roundtable

May 13th company Seeton participated in an expert roundtable organized by the European Business Association (EBA). The event was dedicated to cybersecurity in the energy sector of Ukraine.

The event brought together representatives of relevant ministries, government agencies, energy and IT market leaders, as well as international experts. Seeton was an active participant in the discussion, presenting its vision of technological development and protection of critical infrastructure.

As EBA Deputy Director Svitlana Mykhaylovska noted, today cybersecurity goes far beyond purely IT issues, as it directly affects the economic and national security of Ukraine. Against the backdrop of continuous attacks and rapid digitalization, the stability of the energy system is becoming a common critical task for the state and the private sector.

State and business: balancing regulation and sustainability

The first part of the discussion was devoted to modern threats, regulatory requirements, and the interaction between government and business.

The NSDC representative emphasized that cyberwar will not stop even after the end of hostilities, so systematic exchange of data on threats is vital.

Practical experience and protection of critical infrastructure facilities

During the second panel, experts shared real-world experience in building security systems. In particular, representatives of the State Service for Special Communications noted a positive trend: despite the increase in the total number of attacks, the number of critical incidents is decreasing due to the synergy of business and the state.

Companies shared practical cases of building autonomous Security Operations Centers (SOC) in 24/7 mode and conducting training using red teaming methods (using the example of MODUS X and DTEK), as well as the specifics of protecting renewable energy according to European standards (SolarDefend experience). The speakers unanimously emphasized that investments in cyber hygiene and personnel training remain a basic element of protection, because the human factor is still vulnerable.

AI, European integration and Seeton's expert position

The central event of the third panel, dedicated to future technological challenges, AI, and harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with European norms, was the speech of Seeton Group CEO Leonid Polupan, who moderated this discussion.

Vice President of Sigma Software Group Yevheniy Bachynskyi supported the thesis about the importance of a systemic approach, noting that real protection begins with security design at the architecture level and compliance automation.

Key findings of the final panel:

Artificial intelligence is a weapon for both sides, with AI being used to both improve attacks and automate cyber defenses. Whoever innovates faster will have the advantage.
Flexibility of tools: the public sector confirmed that businesses are left with the freedom to choose specific technological solutions to implement protective plans.
